Before establishing her own firm, Karen was Managing Director at one of Chicago’s leading financial institutions, Banc One Capital Markets (now part of JP Morgan Chase). She successfully managed a team responsible for total risk positions in capital markets products of up to $2 billion, with a record of consistent profitability over 15 years of market volatility. She also held the post of Managing Director–Strategic Projects, reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chairman of Banc One Capital Markets, and held various other positions in Fixed Income Trading and Sales, Asset Backed Securitization, and High Grade Securities Origination.
Her early career was with the First National Bank of Chicago and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Karen’s career as a coach began in her role as a line manager. She worked with direct reports, senior colleagues, and junior associates, and became known as a “go-to” person in difficult situations, offering insight and confidentiality.
Typical clients are C-level, senior, and mid-level executives, managers and professionals in a wide range of industries. Her client list includes professionals in investment and commercial banking, management consulting, retail, healthcare, media, travel, and academia. She has worked with executives at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Ernst & Young, Korn/Ferry International, The Tribune Company, Thomson HealthCare, Sears Holdings Corporation, The Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, Computer Sciences Corporation, and Baxter International, among others.
Karen has been active in various philanthropic organizations, including board and officer-level positions at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Henrotin Hospital, and the American Red Cross. Currently, she is affiliated with YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago, University of Chicago’s GSB Club, University of Chicago’s Women’s Business Group, Professional Women’s Club of Chicago, International Coach Federation, Chicago Coach Federation, The Executives’ Club, and The Chicago Club.
